Does Air Small Packet Have Tracking Amiami
(LONG POST! BUT STILL GOOD FOR DETAILS)
Figure collecting – How do? Much confusion. Such beauty.
I suck at doge memes, but I hope you all catch my drift.
Basically, I'm dedicating my 1st post on my blog on how to start your collection. I actually lied on my about page because a nendoroid wasnot my first figure, rather it was the first figure I've opened. I also have a bootleg ver. blue yukata Miku, but I was too stupid to notice back when I bought it but I'll just keep it until I replace it with the real one. Such crime. Much shame.
Here's how my figure collection started waaaay before I bought that Nendoroid that I opened:
Yes, it all started when I found out this classic magical girl came out last August. I've been a Moonie for about 13 years (I'm almost 18, do the math) and I knew I had to have her. Of any figure, I had to have HER. Then, I got Mercury, and Mars…and then eventually I'll get Venus, Jupiter (who is released later even though she appeared before Venus), and then Saturn, which was recently announced in color!
I actually purchased her from JBox.com or also known as JList.com if you're over 18 (Dem tentacles, I tell ya).
OK, without further adieu, let me introduce the top website I recommend for when you start your figure collection:
AmiAmi.com
AmiAmi is Japanese-based and is amazeballs, and that's the veryleastI can say about it!
Everything they have on their website is AUTHENTIC. I've never seen a review of AmiAmi's pre-owned items/other in-stock merch mention a bootleg. Ever. They are truly awesome.
Not only can you pre-order any freshly-announced merch, but they also have a fan-freaking-tastic pre-owned section of….FIGURES! And they have a huuuuge stock of them, too! And to top off this sundae, the glistening cherry of this website is that they grade the pre-owned figures. Which means they have a letter-scale that looks like this:
The scale is as follows (click the pic to enlarge) >>>>
A lot of AmiAmi's pre-owned figures are either A's or B's for the quality of the figure, while I'd say 99% of the boxes they rate as "B" even if they've never been opened. I'm not sure why they don't just rate the mint-in-box ones as "A" but really there's nothing to complain about.
Let's have a look at one of AmiAmi's pre-owned figures:
Nendoroid – Shuukan Hajimete no Miku Hatsune
What better way than to use a Miku Nendoroid as an example? (P.S -AmiAmi never shows the actual figure in real-life, they only use stock images, so just be wary of that!)
This pre-owned nendoroid is ranked as follows:Item: B/Box: B
So, according to AmiAmi, the nendoroid itself is "Good". Directly from AmiAmi: "Item has been opened and contains signs of minor wear or damage. All parts are included."
In my experience, the B-rated figures themselves look really great. I haven't had a problem with any parts, and if they do have any joint problems or such, AmiAmi will list the problem and if it is bad enough, they'll rank the item "C" for noticeable damage.
Onto the box rating:
AmiAmi rated this nendoroid's box as "B", like 99% of all of their pre-owned figures' boxes. Probably because there are veeeeery minor scratches on the window or just because it's opened.
According to AmiAmi a "B" box means: "Some damage to the box is visible." This may include minor scratches, small box dents, or even as little as the box being opened. I've found that "B" boxes can sometimes be unopened and look MIB.
Buying the Figure:
Buying from AmiAmi is very similar to buying from Mandarake (another Japanese -preowned figure seller) – Once you submit your order, you have 7 days to make the payment (maybe a couple of days after, but they'll send you an email if you haven't after the 7 days).
If you don't send the payment within the time they give you, they'll cancel your order about 2 days after they send you an email to notify you that your payment is late.
IF YOU CANCEL/DON'T PAY FOR A FEW OF YOUR ORDERS, THEY WILL BAN YOUR ACCOUNT. WHICH MEANS NO MORE PRETTY FIGURES. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN!!!
However, if you have bought from them for a while and you usually pay on-time and you need to cancel, they'll more than likely be understanding about your situation and will cancel with no problem. But, don't pull that card too often.
Pricing:
The pre-owned figures from AmiAmi have prices that reflect their quality. AmiAmi will tell you on the listing how much less the figure is compared to the original price/MSRP as a percentage.
The Item: A/Box: B figures are pretty much MIB. So, their prices will be the highest, even if they are pre-owned. For example, I bought an Ultimate Madoka Nendoroid of that rating for about $34 USD and they said it was about 30% less than the original price if they were to list it as "Brand New" on their website and not from the pre-owned section.
But, in the Miku Nendoroid example's case, this figure is rated as Item: B/Box: B. The figure will be a bit less expensive than an Item rating of "A" (usually about $10-$15 USD cheaper), here's a close-up of the example's price:
So, I'm not experienced in conversion rates, but 2,880 Yen is about $30 USD or juuust a bit more. That isn't bad, considering if this figure was rated as an Item: A, it'd be at least $10 USD more. But, the price is pretty reasonable for a gently-used Nendoroid that is as cute as her!
Also, the game prizes they have vas pre-owned items are usually "A"-ranked items are range between $10-$25 USD and are really, really adorable and there's always a LOT!
Wanna take a look at a figure that isn't up-to-pair?
K-On! the Movie Vol.3 Singing! Mio SD Figure [Kyoani Shop Exclusive]
So, according to AmiAmi, this little Mio figure is rated as Item: C/Box: B
If you take a look at the screenshot, you'll notice as to why AmiAmi marked the figure itself as "C". The reason is under "Product Notes": "[Missing] Neck joint part x 1″
I haven't purchased an item that itself is ranked as "C", although I have purchased a figma with a box as "C" (usually those are just dents in the box), but AmiAmi drastically lowers the price if something like a joint is missing, like on this figure.
Shipping:
As previously mentioned, AmiAmi is based in Japan but they always cater to international customers.
However, the shipping is quite…scary. They use bigger boxes than what they need to ship out their orders. Like, trust me, their box sizes seem to be "medium", "big", and "bigger" because they don't have boxes for all shapes and sizes, they just use whatever big-ass boxes they have. And that means shipping for you, even if it's for one small figure, will be pricey. The cheapest shipping I've had was about $5 USD for one Nendoroid. And it was also the cheapest option available – Unregistered (no insurance, no tracking, just hope customs gets it to you). Which, I haven't had a problem with yet, but if you're buying a rare figure and/or you're paranoid, at the very least spend the extra few dollars for Registered shipping and get your insurance (up to 6000 yen) and tracking #.
AmiAmi has four international shipping options:
1. EMS – Highly recommended. However, it's at least $20 for a small package, and only goes up from there. But, it will arrive within 2-5 business days, has a tracking #, and the insurance is however much your purchase cost.
2.Air Small Packet– Recommended. Takes about 1-2 weeks to deliver, and it also comes with tracking, but the insurance only goes up to 6000 yen. The size of your ASP can only go up to 90 cm and goes up to 2 kg. It costs about $15-$20 USD per package, but may go higher depending.
3. SALSmall Packet (Registered) – Recommended if you want your package to be shipped cheap but also want tracking and insurance (up to 6000 yen). About 2-3 weeks for shipping. However, if you're package is fragile, do not use this option. A few dollars more than Unregistered, but usually at least $10 USD for small packages and goes up from there. I'd say the average cost is about $18 USD for a good-sized package.
4. SAL Small Packet (Unregistered) – LOL. If you're cheap and carefree, go for this option. However, it is the least recommended option because it does NOT come with tracking or insurance. So, if you never receive your package, you're out of luck, pal. Takes about 2-3 weeks, but in my case, about 2 weeks if you're in the US. Costs in the range of $5-$15 USD, maybe more, but that's the average when looking at sizes of the packages.
** If you order quite a few items in one single order or they're very heavy, you may not be able to use the cheaper options and they'll force you to choose EMS. I've heard of VERY BIG packages costing around $100 USD for shipping alone.
FINAL NOTES
There's other sites and places you can buy from to start your figure collection, however, I feel like AmiAmi is a super amazing place to start with as long as you aren't a loser and don't pay. Then don't bother with troubling this great place.
And remember, all of their pre-owned figures and whatever else they have in-stock, are AUTHENTIC. You can look at a variety of pre-owned AmiAmi reviews, vlogs, etc. And everything purchased in those will be real!
I'm not paid to write this review, I'm just a major supporter of AmiAmi and love what they have offered their international figure-lovers!
